Mission Statement

Region 14 of the Association of College Unions International strives to be a "model" Region through the achievement of basic programs and activities, which reflect a commitment to:

  • Providing local support to institutional and individual members in their attempts to deliver creative and pertinent services and programs which are consistent with student union philosophy;
  • Equipping students with practical life skills that ensure their integrity, as they become active citizens of the world;
  • Promoting professional development opportunities for staff; and
  • Establishing a communication network where in the vast geographic area of the region can be overcome by using all technological resources available.

The Region 14 Leadership Team will work to accomplish these goals by the following:

  • Sponsoring annual regional conferences, which address topics of interest to professional staff and students and which address the four competency areas of ACUI through keynote speakers, educational sessions, interactive activities, and other programmatic vehicles.
  • Sponsoring recreation and knowledge-based tournaments annually.
  • Developing programs that are specifically geared toward the needs of students.
  • Regularly publishing a newsletter, directory, and miscellaneous letters, establishing a presence on the information highway, conducting conference calls, and working to utilize all creative and technological resources available to facilitate communication.

In an effort to meet regional needs, student union and activities staff and interested students will be encouraged to seek leaderships team positions. Such positions will be continually evaluated for relevance and effectiveness. Additional positions will be added as needed.
